How to Gauge Time

There are several aspects to measuring time

Webster’s defines time as: a nonspatial continuum that is measured in terms of events which succeed one another from past through present to future.

Wikipedia offers another definition: Time is the continued sequence of existence and events that occurs in an apparently irreversible succession from the past, through the present, and into the future. It is a component quantity of various measurements used to sequence events, to compare the duration of events or the intervals between them, and to quantify rates of change of quantities in material reality or in the conscious experience.

What measure evaluates time? A second, minute, hour, day, week, month, year, decades, and centuries. This is also a layout of Earth’s rotational distance. As Earth rotates, each rotation is specific to distance traveled.

According to theoretical physics and Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, time is also a distance traveled

In accordance to Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, our galaxy is traveling through space at the speed of light. When considering the path of particle movement as linear at light speed, instead of being a static elliptical rotation; perspective changes. How does this relate to time? Each moment, unrelated to its duration, is represented as a footprint.

There is a way to accurately measure time: t231029:20:35:27. That was the second of completing that sentence. The thought would have required adding :01(deci), the idea :01 (centi), or even :01(milli), or an additional :01(micro), :01 (nano), :01(pico), or even a several more sets to a zepto or more. The “t” represents a time stamp. 2023 is the year, 10 the month, 29 the day, :20 military time for 8 o’clock pm, :35 minutes, :27 seconds.

Relative to Einstein’s theory that relativity is our galaxy traveling at the speed of light, every moment represents a time stamp segment traveling at the speed of light. The speed of light is 186,000 miles per second. At that speed, each human thought would leave a trace, measurable by a time stamp: t231029:20:58::52:05:01:01:01:01:01:10 or whatever that minute thought took. Nonetheless, there is a time stamp for every action and even every thought. And, as Earth travels with the galaxy at light speed; every thought leaves a footprint as to the exact moment and place that it left its identifying footprint.

Unrelated to physical science are questions and opinions of philosophy, regarding time.

What of dreams? Where are dreams in the footprints of time? Are they cataloged as footprints of time; or is the sleeping cataloged as a footprint? Are dreams like memories of past events, current thoughts relevant to issues of the day, or some type of opening that relates to future events? How are dreams relevant to time?

Another issue of life and time is that some people seek to prolong their duration of lifespan. There are those whose desire is to live forever. An interesting commentary regarding some of the very wealthy, having achieved massive financial gain at middle age; is their desire to continue. Can the time and duration of lifespan arbitrarily be extended?

Others see the limit of human existence expanded to forever in theology. Christian theology views life on Earth as a beginning. Other theologies vary in the concept of what the human spirit is; and the timespan of life.

This is merely a commentary on the scientific principles of time as to its presents of space. Life holds a different meaning, involving spirit and soul.

But, this is written for a transportation blogpost. What does time have to do with transportation? Looking at your watch when stuck in slow traffic causes stress.

Time

Time is directly related to measurement when traveling near light speed. Traveling relates specifically to distance. As the topic of space travel exceeds the inefficiency of massive energy waste of chemical explosions and the limitations of aerodynamic resistance, a new type of measurement becomes necessary. Measuring time as footprints as a location pattern becomes advantageous.

Upon discovering the pattern definition of the past, it becomes the pattern for the location pattern towards the future. This is different than predicting what will happen but, it certainly provides the pathway.

Light speed is 186,000 miles per second. At 5280 feet per mile, that’s 982,080,000 feet per second. Does that allot for this moment of t231102:21:58:0982080001 as seconds per foot? Which could be further divided by distance to inches? Or could more easily be interpreted mathematically with the meter system?

In conclusion, this manner of using this time stamp is adequate to measure time in accounting for time and distance while traveling at an ultra-fast velocity.
