Sustainability requires gardens and sustainable transportation

Sustainable Growth

There are almost as many different interpretations to sustainability as there are opinions. Sustainability isn’t a controversial word but, its perception is. Some people feel that plastic bags at a grocery store are the cause of climate change. Others sense that electric cars driven in the summer will stop global warming. And others are convinced that sustainability is a lie used as a tool of politics.


The goal of this writing is to share an understanding that urban growth is an inevitable process. Halting the rise in the world’s population won’t stop urban increase. Urban growth is the process of migration. Urban growth is primarily the transition of movement. As technology progresses, the culture shifts and migration continues.


Since the expansion of world population has not decreased, its pace of increase necessitates sustainability alternatives. Sustainability issues are things such as water storage, waste, manufacturing, food production, transportation, energy usage, and building growth areas for business and residential.


To CATTCC, there are two components of focus: transportation and urban growth planning. Transportation is an important element to metropolitan and urban life. Its planning is vital for all urban expansion. Regarding sustainability for urban growth; it requires a sustainable transportation mechanism. CATTCC considers transportation the most important aspect to sustainability.


Addressing the biggest single issue opposing sustainable transportation is easy and can be summed up in one simple phrase: chemical explosions are an inefficient methodology of propulsion. This presents a phenomenal opportunity for technological advances of innovation.


CATTCC uses a practical approach in its view of sustainable transportation. Walking, animals, and sailboats are sustainable modes of transportation. All chemical explosions used to propel vehicles are inefficient. Massive production to supply raw materials for electric car batteries cause environmental concerns and cars remain to be cars. Large-scale battery recharging at night places a strain on the current energy production network. Train technology is an outdated mode of transportation and inadequate for today’s society. Cars are completely unsustainable. Airplanes are bulky, too big for local transit, and the regulation for tens of millions of small flying vehicles for local travel is an overwhelming complication.

 

This suggests transportation methodologies are due for innovative improvement. A brand-new mode of transportation is a must.

 

Sustainability for urban growth addresses an individual’s living space to improve overall quality of life. Mandated commune type or institutionalized living quarters conflicts with the US Constitution which guarantees every citizen freedom of choice to live where they choose, except those who violate the laws and are incarcerated.

 

Sustainability involves the environment, the economy, and individual concerns to serve cultural and social consequences.


CATTCC concerns for sustainability are urban growth and transportation. The use of plastic bags or toothpaste ingredients goes beyond the realm of CATTCC’s reach of expertise and focus.


How is it possible then, in building solutions for sustainable growth; to change how city planners allow developers to build? Change needs invention. Until a totally new transportation invention happens, like the train was to the 1800s, cars will remain the main source of transportation. Society needs a totally new mode of transportation to be made available.

“Prerequisites for Sustainable Development

        The design component for every residential unit:

  •   Is in sync with nature
  •   Provides an edible garden porch
  •   Individual yard privacy. A ziggurat design can accommodate this. 
  •   Sound disturbance in one’s living space is an unsustainable nuisance. You can call it sound pollution. In building multi-story residential, the walls and ceiling need z-bar metal studs for sound proofing. The metal z-bar accommodates a double layer of sheetrock in the ceiling with z-bar between the two layers of sheetrock. This creates a sound cushion barrier, eliminating thumping noise from above tenants and creates a closed space of sound for residents. Sound travels by vibration. Sheetrock is normally attached by screws (or nails) into studs. Sound is amplified in the vibration of sheetrock wall and translated by the screws into the studs which carry this vibration. The same action takes place in ceiling joists carrying sheetrock, attached by nails or screws. The application of z-bar and air space between the two layers of sheetrock provides an adequate allowance for sound separation and privacy. A necessary component for livability of vertical residential dwellings. 


Lifestyle

     In a sustainable living environment, life style is prerogative choice to the individual. This is synonymous to a person’s favorite color; there can be no argument made to favorite. Additionally, lifestyle is relative to smoking cigarettes, the people who smoke; enjoy it. In a sustainable environment, philosophy extends deeper into planning design accommodation for a free society. Fung shui is 

     In the USA, religious freedom was originally based on Christian principles. For the sake of preserving these principles, legislators were not required to adhere to this theological criterion. Without understanding, arrogance through ignorance reflects as inability in leadership. Those without understanding have little comprehension of philosophical or theological concepts, and often reject its premise with contempt. Addressing and overcoming these aspects of social interaction are a very important development design in building communities.

     Fung shui is an example of efficient building design. 

     Environmental design; when parameters are assigned by dictate of tyranny in socialist or communist government, the living environment is selected by authoritarianism, and not by freedom of individual choice. Individual choice is a privilege allocated by sacrifice and maintained by dedication. Lifestyle design has two alternatives, confinement or choice. 

 

Sustainable Transit Oriented Development Design

  • Real estate development is the responsibility of the developer. Design is a result of market demand. When invention with innovation becomes the goal of developers, Transit Oriented Development (TODs) can become solutions to sustainable urban growth. With effective design, a TOD can incorporate the finest quality of life elements available. TODs can offer an advantageous living environment to address social issues with a variety of community activity centers. With the intent of creating a social sense of involvement and belonging, a TOD becomes a neighborhood. Privacy is vital and independence relates to individuality. Building developments have the opportunity to be neighborhoods. Intentional designs of TODs can address quality of life improvements, and with advanced transportation options, these TODs can improve living standards.

A very important component consistently overlooked for sustainable urban growth: all housing must include privacy and an eatable garden area. Dirt is an essential part of life, a necessary element for development to a residential environment.


The aspects to the meaning “what is sustainability” is far reaching. Sustainable transportation demands a brand-new mode of transportation.
